Voting Obama

I know, I know. If you've been to my house in the last few months, you've seen my Ron Paul signs on the windows, my Ron Paul t-shirts, my Ron Paul buttons...but today, I had to vote Democratic. Why? Because the freakin' California GOP is slow and fat. They took nearly two months to process my online application to become a Repub to vote for Ron Paul. So, I missed the cutoff date to change my party before the primary. I also had to search three different polling places until I found my name. (thank god for the iphone, having web and maps mobile was a huge help) So, once I got where I was supposed to be, I was still registered Democrat from last year. I'm okay with that. Even though, I'm a new Republican at heart. Not a wack-job Theocon that has raped the Republican Party as we see it today. I'm a Ron Paul Republican. True to the earliest charter of the Republicans. That the Constitution was there to control government, not the people. That states' rights meant something at one time. That the government should fear its citizens, not the other way around. *stepping off soapbox*

But, my vote wasn't in vain. I was going to vote Obama in the presidential election anyway if RP didn't get the Repub nom, which he wasn't. (I'm not delusional, people, I just seriously enjoy the hell out of Paul. We've lost our way as a country, and he knows it, we know it and finally someone is speaking out for us.)

Please, go out and vote today. Regardless of the effort involved. Vote. Regardless of your views. Vote. Regardless of your apathy. Vote.

I have that sticker on my shirt, "I Voted" and I wear it with pride. I'm constantly making sure it sticks flat and sticks there all day. I'm proud of our system, as ridiculous as it is sometimes. Its one of the few times that I feel that America is still a community. A tribe or sorts. It makes me feel like I feel when my wife looks at me: wanted, needed, worthy and honorable.
